I have a close young friend who is struggling mightily with a drug addiction that has changed the course of her life and so many others in her life. Addictions of any kind have a crushing effect on our loved ones and friends that leads to misery, isolation and on occasion, death. If you have someone in your life in a similar position, don't turn away from them - please make sure they know you love them.

As always, take this opportunity to share some laughs with your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and enemies - whoever touches your life. And say you care, while you can, to those who are important to you, no matter the status of your relationship. Bad things can happen in a blink… say something NOW so you don’t regret that you didn't after they are gone.
