Ironically, China's latest dictate takes them back another 100 years on issues of freedom of speech, censorship, and creative thinking.
CNN reports: China says "TV dramas shouldn’t have characters that travel back in time and rewrite history." "They also say that myth, superstitions and reincarnation are all questionable.”
New guidelines issued on March 31 discourages plot lines that contain elements of "fantasy, time-travel, random compilations of mythical stories, bizarre plots, absurd techniques, even propagating feudal superstitions, fatalism and reincarnation, ambiguous moral lessons, and a lack of positive thinking.
And in a special report from Vintage Stand-up Comedy:
A lesser known "dream team" has been cracking down on dreaming, be it day-dreaming or full-on night time REM sleep dreaming. All dreams are to be based on real facts and real situations only. Dream monitoring equipment is being installed across the country and any breach in this policy will be punished by dream deprivation and, if necessary, "worse."
In an unexpected twist, the dream team has come under scrutiny by the State Administration who plan on jailing the dream team for merely imagining this new technology.
